Episode 8: Doomsday Minus One - 2/28/67

An Army major enters the General's office to inform him he's checked the perimeter, that it seems clean but he feels that security is inadequate. He's interrupted by the secretary buzzing the intercom to announce that there's an urgent phone call for Major Graves from Mr. Spence. Major Graves asks the General if he can have more men and he says he'll let him know.

Major Graves takes the call from Spence, who asks where Vincent is, saying he was supposed to be there. Graves tells him to relax and reminds him that he said he wasn't coming in until the next afternoon. Spence is sweating bullets and asks how he can relax when he's being watched. Graves tells him he already closed his office and he can be halfway around the world tomorrow. He says he'll check with him later and hangs up on him.

Spence hangs up the phone in the booth he's in and finds that the door to the booth is stuck when he tries to exit. He starts banging on the door and yelling for help, but the alien patrons are too busy sucking on their martini olives and playing darts to give him any attention. One of the aliens signals the alien bartender (you may remember him wielding a pointy probe in The Leeches episode) to attend to him. He walks past the screaming man to turn on the juke box and then kicks the door open as another alien joins him. Spence steps out of the booth and asks what's going on. They grab him and apply the alien lighted disc to his neck and he goes down screaming.

Episode 7: Nightmare - 2/21/67

A schoolmarm drives up to a farm and steps out with many books in arm. She walks toward a barn where a humming sound can be heard from the open door. The sound intensifies as she enters the barn, and as she looks around, she is startled by the appearance of Fred. She asks what he's doing on his feet and tells him he should be staying off his ankle. His face is unemotional and he does not respond. As she explains that they have a history test on Monday and that she brought his schoolbooks, she notices the Constable and Mr. Danielson standing by a metal contraption with geometric designs and colorful lights. As she walks over to them, the Constable flips a switch and the lights go out on the machine.

Fred circles around her menacingly and she asks what he's doing as he picks up a large stick on the ground. She drops her books and runs, and he takes off after her, while the other men follow. Even in her pencil skirt and prim pumps, she is able to evade Fred before the other two call him back to the barn. The Constable switches the device back on and we see the bravehearted teacher ducking under a barbed wire fence, stopping to notice a powdery substance on the plants, as the sky blackens with a swarm of locusts. She dashes through a dead cornfield and seeks shelter in a shed, but some of the insects find their way in and attack her.

Episode 6: Vikor - 2/14/67

We are at Vikor (pronounced Vicker, not Vee-kor like I thought) Enterprises, where the orange corrugated sign surely promises good things, a fact that is underscored by the high voltage fence and the guards patrolling.

A phone lineman, Phil, calls down to his colleague, Hank, for more line. Hank gets in his cherry picker and hoists himself upward. On his ascent, he notes an interesting scene through an open window, where several gentlemen are standing around watching a man in an enclosed tube emitting a red glow. As he glows, his skeleton becomes visible. One of the men inside sees that he is watching and goes to a phone. Realizing he's been spotted, Hank begins to descend. Phil yells at him to ask what's the matter and tell him he needs the line.

Hank runs to his truck, but is detained by one of the guards, who's pressing something to his neck. As Phil approaches, the guard says he thinks he's had a heart attack.

Phil is so unnerved that he forgets his coworker's name and begins calling him Phil, asking if he's okay. Hank haltingly tells of seeing a man in a tube glowing as if he were on fire. The guard tries to interrupt him, but the coworker pushes him away and drives off with him in the truck. The man who had been on the phone comes out and signals to the guard. The truck breaks through the barrier, as the guards dive out of the way.

Episode 5: Genesis - 2/7/67

Two motorcycle police officers are making a traffic stop when they notice a car driving by with only one headlight. One of the officers makes a remark about the crazy kids with one headlight, while the other gets on his bike and says, "They're mine."

He stops the offending youth and asks for their license. The driver asks what they did, telling him they were only going 30 mph, and the officer asks the driver to get out. He points out the broken headlight on the station wagon and says it will cost him. As the crazy kid laughs about trying to drive like an old lady and getting stopped for a headlight, the officer hears a thumping sound coming from the car and asks what it is.

The youngster nervously says it's nothing, but the officer goes to the back of the car and demands that he open it. The young kid tries to explain that it's a nice girl who got a little 'oiled up' at the beach, but the officer repeats his command. The kid opens it and a glowing red light pulsates from within, as the horrified officer asks what it is. The kid slaps a lighted alien disc on his neck and he goes down silently screaming as the kids drive off.
