Episode 23: The Trial - 10/10/67

Charlie Gilman pops the top on his bottle of pop as he describes to David Vincent how his good looking coworker, Wilk, was injured in an accident that caused a foot long piece of glass to open a large gash on his wrist that did not bleed. David asks why he didn't tell somebody, and he asks how he could tell anyone that the personnel manager may be a space man. David asks where the security office is, and heads in that direction, telling Gilman to keep an eye on Wilk.

Wilk goes inside the building and Gilman follows him. He enters a boiler room and begins to descend a staircase, when Wilk suddenly closes and locks the door, asking what he wants while brandishing a very large wrench. He begins swinging it at Gilman, who dodges the blows.

David Vincent exits the security office with Sgt. Wisnovsky and can't locate Gilman, who is battling Wilk. They approach the boiler room where they can hear a scuffle, but are unable to open the locked door, so they peer in the window to see Gilman hit Wilk in the head with the wrench, knocking him down. Wisnovsky shoots the door handle and as they break in, he tells Gilman to drop the wrench and come up. Gilman says he burned up, and David says it means he was right about Wilk. Sgt. Wisnovsky says it means he's a murderer.

Episode 22: The Enemy - 10/3/67

A woman drives up to a gate in a jeep, and as she gets out to open the gate, hears the hum of a spacecraft. Looking up, she sees the craft begin to spark and sputter as it descends behind a hill and then explodes dramatically, as huge fireballs rise into the air. She jumps into her jeep and heads toward the scene of the accident.

Amazingly, the ship is still mostly intact, though obviously damaged and glowing pink. One of the aliens begins to drag a metal box labeled "Utah Dept. of Mines" out of the ship and collapses. Another alien in distress emerges from the ship and makes his way over to his buddy with the box, who begins to glow red and disintegrates.

He begins dragging the box away from the ship, and when he's a good distance away, he fires on the ship and vaporizes it.

He opens the box and removes several ampules that he stuffs into the pocket of his standard issue alien jumpsuit. He hears a car drive up and begins to aim his phaser, but just as the woman from the jeep appears, he keels over.

Episode 21: Valley of the Shadow - 9/26/67

Two doctors are driving along the coast, as the bride-to-be cautions her fiancé, Sam, that they won't have much of a honeymoon with the early morning calls they're getting. He offers to pour her a tranquilizer when they get back, and pulls her closer to snuggle as he drives. It's easy to sense the impending doom.

An erratic driver approaches them rapidly from behind, swerving to pass around them, as the car continues to weave across both lanes of the road until it hits the hillside and rolls over. The doctors pull over, and Sam tells Maria to call the highway patrol on their handy CB unit, while he grabs his kit and heads over to the scene of the accident.

The driver is squirming in his seat, and Sam cautions him not to move, explaining that he's a doctor. The man says he's okay and explains that he was driving so poorly because his brakes went out. Maria arrives with her stethoscope at the ready, and the man becomes combative when he sees it.

He forces his way out of the car and grapples with Sam, while Maria grabs him from behind, trying to pull him off.

He throws her off and picks up a rock and bashes Sam's skull in with it. Sam is unconscious on the hood of the car, and Maria is left facing the attacker.

He goes after her, but the highway patrol officers arrive just in time and arrest him. She goes to Sam, crying and calling his name, while she hugs his lifeless body.

Episode 20: The Watchers - 9/19/67

A frantic man parks a company car from The Lodge on an airport runway. A worker tells him he can't park there and the man asks if the Washington flight has left yet and he says it's due now. Another car from The Lodge pulls up, and as two men get out and approach them, he tells the worker that they've taken over The Lodge. He says they look, talk and act like real people, but they're not, and they're going to kill him.

He runs willy-nilly around a truck, and is easily intercepted by one of the men, who holds up an alien mind control crystal and tells him that a plane will be landing momentarily.

He calmly strides out onto the runway in the path of the incoming plane while the worker chases after him. There is a loud thud and the worker winces and turns away, while the two aliens behind him share a pleased look with one another.

Farewell, Dominic Frontiere

TV would not have been the same without Dominic Frontiere. He left us with many fond memories.

Episode 19: The Saucer - 9/12/67

Police officers are out searching the desert because John Carter has seen a flying saucer and has photos to prove it. Since they find no evidence, the police chief claims he needs a doctor and says his photos don't make any sense.

Just as he's about to drive him back into town, Carter points out a disc in the sky, which turns out to be some kid's frisbee.

His dad comes running up with him, and when Jimmy says it's broken, his dad starts complaining about how toys these days are made of cheap plastic, which makes him seem like an alien who's trying too hard to appear human. The police chief asks if he noticed anything strange in the sky the night before, and he says he didn't last night or any other time, proving he's an alien, leaving us to wonder if little Jimmy is too.
